Microsoft ultimatum: Windows 7 era is coming to an end

American blog TechCrunch discovered that Microsoft has rolled out the first patch, which includes an ultimatum pop-up window informing users that January 14, 2020 is the deadline for the end of support. However, users should only start receiving notifications on April 18, and there is still enough time to consider whether to go or stay.

Microsoft stated (warning) that if users continue to use the Windows 7 system after the end of support and give up the experience of the more secure Windows 10 system, they are likely to face the risk of more malicious programs and network hackers. In this regard, Microsoft strongly recommends that everyone buy a new computer with Windows 10 pre-installed. Of course, if you already have a computer that can run Windows 10 well, you can ignore Microsoft's advice.

For some enterprise users who are inconvenient to upgrade their systems, Microsoft will provide them with an option. After the support period expires, they can choose to pay a certain fee every year to continue to receive security updates and technical support. However, according to Microsoft, the fees paid are not fixed and may continue to increase in value. In other words, if you choose to upgrade to the Windows 10 system, it may be more cost-effective, and Microsoft is even willing to help these business users upgrade and ensure that all applications can work properly.
