Windows 10 1903 is coming soon, but version 1809 is still weak

Microsoft announced late last week that it had removed an upgrade block for gaming devices that use anti-cheat software. This upgrade block was implemented at the end of February and relied on third-party vendors to fix the problem, which also affected preview builds of the Windows 10 19H1 branch.

Mr. Dona Sarkar, Windows project leader, said: "Many games that use anti-cheat software have released solutions to the problem (causing PC errors (GSOD)), and the upgrade block that prevents Windows insiders from updating to the latest version will soon be removed."

Microsoft’s improvements to the upgrade block mean that users will soon see the Windows 10 19H1 update version (18362) in Windows Update.

This issue affects internal users on version 18356.16, causing these users to be unable to complete the update when updating to version 18362. However, Sarkar pointed out that Microsoft has been working hard to resolve this issue.

For other slow ring users, Microsoft provides another upgrade solution, enabling the "Seeker" experience, which also means that users will no longer receive the Build 18362 version in Windows Update. The feasible upgrade solution is: Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update > Click the "Check for Updates" button to update.

Known issues include issues affecting Creative X-Fi sound cards and some Realtek SD card readers not working. In response, Microsoft said they are working with Creative to resolve this issue.

Not surprisingly, Windows 10 version 1903 will be released this month, but the usage rate of Windows 10 version 1809 is still not very satisfactory. We still don’t know how Microsoft will deal with this phenomenon.
